I, too, sleep primarily on my side and toss & turn a lot.
I have the same problem with the Swift LT that Barbara mentioned. It shifts and leaks a lot, and I have to fiddle with it for several minutes before I fall asleep. I wake up frequently, an...
Barbara - thanks for the info! I haven't heard of this product.
It's taken me about a year, but I think I am finally adjusting to the nasal swift pillows. They shift around; air escapes, and the noise of the seeping air and the need to constantly...
Me too, Wendy... me too. I get frustrated because I don't know where to turn. I have to see several different professionals, not just one, and coordinate my own care. I'm incapable of doing so b/c my brain functioning has disintegrated so much and...
I just started a new group for people like us with multiple sleep disorders and issues affecting sleep.
Multiple Issues Affecting Sleep
My experience with sleep professionals is that they only diagnose and treat sleep apnea. I think we need a ma...
Thanks for the information, JC! This is the most recent study that I found:

I have worked in sleep for quite some time and am familiar with both nasal pillows and nasal cannulas. Cannulas are designed to deliver oxygen and not meant to treat sleep apnea (ie: used as interface for CPAP machines). I have not heard of any re...
I have not been able to adjust to using a CPAP all night. The nasal pillows, which are supposed to be the most comfortable mask option, are too uncomfortable for me. I've been wondering why CPAP suppliers do not use the same devices used in medica...
Lifelong insomniac with multiple sleep disorders: apnea due to structural abnormalities; Restless Leg Syndrome, and Insomnia. Also have major depression and Attention Deficit Disorder; both which contribute to my lack of sleep and also may be caused (or made worse) by it.
I am trying to use a CPAP with nasal pillows (with difficulty - sometimes the darn thing keeps me awake; sometimes it helps me to sleep deeper; but it never helps me to sleep longer than 4 hours). I've been taking Clonazepam for insomnia for several years, after starting with herbs, L-tryptophan, and melatonin, moving on to over the counter meds, and finally trying a variety of prescription meds.
Lack of sleep has had a deep a long-lasting negative impact on my life. It is still the biggest project in my life: trying to figure out how to get enough sleep so that I can have a life.

I really hate this struggle Dean, and I fully empathize with you. Have you been seeing any differences or changes for the better lately? If so, please share (when you're up and refreshed a bit)!
I wish I could wave a magic wand over all our fellow sufferers and make everyone have a good restful night each time we hit the pillow,
W.

Hi Dean, Wendy here again.
Just was looking thru the site, and found an interesting article on page 7 under the sleep forum, called Counting breaths to sleep. Check it out, I'm going to try it- can't hurt!

Hi Dean, It's Wendy O. here.
Sorry to hear about all of your sleep issues..I know how much of a drag it is and how negatively it impacts your life.
You seem to have tried many different things, but let me ask a few clarifiers for your consideration.
Have you talked to your doc about trying different meds for your depression? A really good supplement to try is SAME and fish oil- do a little research to see what you think. I use the brand Natures Made cause they have a good coupon reward sysetem whre you can get a nice chunk of change back for redeeming their product points. I also shop at CVS for my supplements stuff cause they give money back on purchases too.
Do you do any exercise? this is where I'm slacking (cause of a back injury) but I'm going to get back on the wagon again with it, cause it really does seem to help with sleep quality.
Have you done any Cognitive Behavioral therapy or sound&relaxation exercises? Sometimes they really help me to initiate sleep...I only wake up occasionaly because of pain issues, it's not an everynight thing like yours.
Well, fellow struggler, let me know if I gave you any good food for thought and hit me back with what has helped you the most. Most of the supplements you've tried, I have too, without success. So frustrating this battle is!
Ask about te TAP appliance- I couldn't handle the nose and tubes witht he CPAP either.
