Pillow Talk

Pillow Talk

I'm interested in talking with other people who have been diagnosed with narcolepsy because I have been recently diagnosed (thankfully I can classify my sleeping for days on end now) and would really like any advice, support, or resources to help me manage it (now that I know what it is). If you're in your 20's and/or have been recently diagnosed as well, I would be particularly interested in hearing from you (I'm 23, and have been noticeably struggling with sleep since a little before high school). Again, if anyone with any experience (personal or otherwise) with narcolepsy would reply, I'd be more than grateful, and would appreciate anything that you may be able to offer... Thank you in advance!

Hello my Name is Tim I am 28 and was diagnosed with narcalepsy like ten years ago, but have had it since I was atleast 15. I also suffer from cataplexia. I take no meds because I have no health insurance, amtrying to find somewhere that can help me get treatment that I have needed for so long but am unable to get. Taking short naps when I can and when I feel I need to helps, but it is an ongoing struggle that effects me everyday in everything I do. I feel medication is probably the best way to combat narcalepsy. I took provigil for a time but it had no real effect, I was still falling asleep.I definatly feel if I would have been on a medication in the past it would have greatly effected the outcome of my life. At this point in my life I am asolutley sick of dealing with it, but what can you do when you need to see expensive doctors and have no health insurance.

Doctors are the worst patients in this arena. The average family physician sleeps only 4 to 5 hours per day.
